Construction Defect Attorney

Our firm handles construction defect cases, and those cases range from defective roofs, defective windows, defective foundations of homes to the same types of problems in multi-million dollar churches, apartment buildings, commercial structures. What I really enjoy doing is, I think I had a calling as an engineer, a civil engineer, that I put aside to become a lawyer because I love looking through construction plans and trying to find where the design went wrong, in connection with architects and other engineers that we hire. And so what happens in these cases is that the owners of the buildings, typically homeowners, they see the damage and they contact the builder and say, "Please fix the house." And what they don't understand is the warranty that they thought they'd bought with the house really doesn't cover nearly enough of the structure, and they frequently from homeowners get the runaround. And get told that what they're experiencing they should live with, what they're experiencing is normal. Well, it's not normal to have a half-inch crack in your foundation that goes from one side to the other. It's not normal to have your foundation shift six inches so much so that you can't open the back door of your house. And those types of cases, we step in and we handle those for homeowners. We handle those for commercial building owners. They're very complicated because, frequently, not only do they involve the builder, they involve the subcontractors, they involve design professionals. And so, for instance, in one case we have now for a medical building that we're handling, there are 17 different defendants. 17 versus 1. I love it. That's exactly the odds we like at Wenholz | Dow.
