We were out on a rare Friday night. When we were passing through the intersection at Bee Cave Road 2244 and Highway 71, we were struck broadside by a drunk driver. And it turned the car up on its side. And I don't know if I blacked out for a second, or if I just . . . it happened so fast. I ended up hanging over Gladys out of my seatbelt.
It took about 45 minutes to get me out. Gladys got out a little bit ahead. The first offer that we got from her insurance company, and I'll let it remain nameless, was insulting. It was not enough to even pay for the emergency room care that we got on the night of the accident. But I could not get a response from them to give me a better offer.
